2014: New and Exciting Challenges Ahead

2014 may prove to be one of the most exciting years for Texoma Composite Squadron in recent memory. We have many goals and activities planned for the next 12 months; here are just a few of them:

  • Flying – several of our Senior members are working toward their qualifications as CAP pilots, and one has announced his intention to become qualified to give Cadet Orientation Flights (O-flights). A third CAP aircraft has been added to our Group this year, which will give us many opportunities to fly, including staging flights from our location.
  • Cadet Programs – with a full command staff now in place, we are looking at offering more programs focused on Cadets, including STEM-based ground school training on our flight simulators, restarting our Model Rocketry program, and Emergency Services training.
  • Emergency Services – expanding our capabilities to field Ground Teams and Urban Direction Finding (UDF) teams, hosting ES exercises from our squadron building, and establishing full aircrews to serve on ES missions.
  • Facilities – expanding and improving our computer and communications systems to support our own training as well as ES missions.

Of course, accomplishing all of these goals will require a lot of hard work on the part of all our squadron members, and we can always use more members in all areas. If any of these activities interest you, we encourage you to check out what Civil Air Patrol has to offer. Our squadron meets every Monday evening at 6:30pm; directions to our squadron building are located on our “Contact Us” page.
