Additional Membership Options

In addition to Cadets and Seniors, Civil Air Patrol offers several other categories of membership. There’s something for everyone!

A brief description of each is provided here; for more details, please contact us.

Reserve/Patron Member
Individuals who would like to show their financial support for CAP but do not desire to be active Senior members can join as Reserve/Patron Members. These members have access to a limited set of benefits and are allowed to participate in a limited number of activities. Reserve/Patron members can convert their memberships to active Senior memberships at any time.

Cadet Sponsor Member
Parents, grandparents, and legal guardians of active CAP cadets can join their squadron as Cadet Sponsor Members and assist in the Cadet Program. Typical duties include providing adult supervision, transportation, and serving as chaperones for overnight activities. Cadet Sponsors are limited to participation in Cadet-related activities only. Cadet Sponsors can convert their memberships to active Senior memberships at any time.

Business Member
Corporations, partnerships, and other businesses who would like to show their financial support for CAP’s missions and programs can join as Business Members. This form of membership is similar to the Reserve/Patron membership, with the difference that Reserve/Patron Members join and are listed as individuals while Business Members join and are listed in the name of their company.

Aerospace Education Member
Qualified educators, undergraduate students, school systems, businesses, and other organizations who wish to support CAP’s Aerospace Education program can join as Aerospace Education Members. Aerospace Education Members have a limited number of member benefits and are allowed to participate in a limited number of activities. Individual Aerospace Education Members (educators and students) can convert their memberships to active Senior memberships at any time.

Legislative Member
State legislators, elected state officials and key staff members are eligible to join CAP as members of the state’s Legislative Squadron. These memberships are coordinated through the state Wing Headquarters.

Affiliate Member
Similar to Business Members, Affiliate Members are organizations or special groups who wish to support CAP financially or through the offering of exclusive or discounted services to members. These memberships are coordinated through CAP’s National Headquarters.
